FOOD NEWS – TURKISH MANTL OPENS UP IN KNIGHTSBRIDGE

THE MANTL, A NEW TURKISH-STYLE RESTAURANT IS SET TO OPEN ITS DOORS ON ONE OF LONDON’S MOST ICONIC THOROUGHFARE’S IN KNIGHTSBRIDGE, BRINGING TURKISH FLAVOURS AND FEASTING TO THE HEART OF HUNGRY LONDONERS.

Drawing on heritage and tradition, the Mantl’s ethos is borne out of a desire to create a hub as the heart of the home, centred around the fire hearth where cooking and families come together and share in the occasion.

The spacious 74-cover restaurant, with an additional 8-covers outdoors, lends itself to large gatherings, smaller group parties and more intimate dining occasions. Its slick interior, ambient lighting and leather-bound booth seating lining the parameter of the restaurant provide the perfect setting for any occasion.

At the helm in the kitchen, the passionate team of chefs have created an inspired menu underpinned by true authenticity and rich taste. Hot and cold traditional starters such as Tutsulu Koyun Yogurdu – glazed figs, smoked sheep yoghurt, oak cured beef, grape molasses, pistachio and Ocke – light homemade puffs of zucchini, seeds, feta and garlic yoghurt ease diners in before feasting your eyes on the stars of the show from the mantl grill. Cooked atop a roaring open grill and hot coals, a choice of succulent chicken and lamb shish and adana kebabs sit alongside tender pistachio lamb chops; Sarma Beyti – minced lamb, lavash and halep sauce; Feraye – a truly authentic Turkish dish complete with crispy lamb, beef manti, tomato, smoked yoghurt and mint butter and seafood kebabs, all served with freshly chopped salad. Saving room for the sweet-toothed treats, opt for the Tahini soufflé with mastika ice cream or Sutlac – buffalo milk rice pudding.

A discerning selection of wines, available by the glass, sit alongside an extensive list of spirits and house-made cocktails. Look out for the Mantl Master – a mix of tequila, pomegranate juice, passion bitter and lemon juice; take on the Bosphorus Breeze – rum, mastika liquor and bitters or the Ottoman Slap – a special house cocktail made with Raki, lemon, cucumber and thyme.

Mantl provides the perfect place for family gatherings and friendly encounters as well as somewhere for those short on time looking to have a break away from the daily grind and general hustle and bustle. A great value set lunch menu offers 2-courses for £18 or 3-courses for £22, Monday to Friday 12pm-5pm.
